Part photographic, part digital composites, digital manipulation and use of rice paper and specially prepared canvas I work with many and changing sources of materials and images. I sometimes combine several elements from different photos to make up a new image. Sometimes parts of a photo are reduced or removed, stretched or shrunk, redifined by surface treatments, to create a new work from a very old photo. My work has evolved over time and continues to change as my grasp of the digital possibilites available to me grows.
I am currently using 6 software programs, a 44 inch Epson archival printer, Intous drawing tablet, an Epson R1800 17inch printer, reams of special 44 inch and 36 inch wide Epson canvas, 39 inch wide Unryu rice papers, and a curious collection of oil pigments and glazing mediums, Dorland's wax medium (used warm), and encaustic medium (used hot).

Review of Artist's Work: Susan Brown Stoddard Phd. Prof. University of Maine: ..."Petrea Noyes' painting with its delicate monochromatic palette and shadings and its merging of media and technique, creates a sense of mystery. The subtle layering creates depth while the paleness of the colors floats the figures to the surface."
